Our latest investment in Creaform’s HandyScan 3D Max scanner marks a significant advancement in our design services, enabling us to deliver more accurate and efficient packaging solutions. The 3D scanner is a highly precise measurement tool that scans objects and recreates them virtually. This technology allows us to visit customers, create 3D files of their products, and design custom packaging around these exact dimensions. By eliminating the need for multiple sample iterations, it saves both time and resources for PSI and our customers.
We primarily use the 3D scanner for designing foam packaging and custom crating, especially when we can’t physically obta
in the product. For example, we utilized the scanner to overcome challenges in creating custom crates for Airbus. The scanner allowed us to handle the complexity of large, oddly shaped parts without access to technical drawings by scanning directly at their facility. Customers such as Cannon Instruments, Holmatro, and Airbus have all benefited from this cutting-edge technology. Our goal with the 3D scanner is to empower our design team to create highly accurate, custom packaging solutions that meet our clients’ unique needs.
